Tea is the most popular beverage and the second most consumed beverage in the world only next to water. Its mostly grown in Asia but consumed the world over. History and Origins
China is the country where tea had it’s beginning. According to legend, around 2737 BC, Shen Nung the Chinese emperor had the habit of sitting under a tree after a heavy meal, while his servant boiled drinking water. Some leaves fell into the water being boiled. He noticed that the taste of the water was different then what it normally used to be. He experimented with it and that’s how the Tea was born.
Types of Tea
There is wide variety of tea that is grown globally. There are 4 main varieties of tea: White Tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea, and Black Tea. Black tea is the most common of all but in recent years more and more people have begun consuming Green tea because of its seeming health benefits.
Other types of tea that people consume are Black, white, green, Oolong, Herbal, Ayurvedic, Peppermint, Matcha etc. Matcha, traditionally consumed in Japan has now become increasingly popular across the world because of it multiple health benefits.
People consume tea with or without milk and sugar but it’s believed that tea consumed without milk and sugar is much more healthier than with it.
